Throwback: Ms. Dynamite-Dy-Na-Mi-Tee

Ms. Dynamite’s appearance on DJ Sticky’s 2-step track “Booo!” was the catalyst to her solo career. The London native’s 2002 debut album, A Little Deeper made her a superstar at home and the first Black woman to receive the Mercury Music Prize. The charming appeal of her ragga-influenced flow helped “It Takes More” and “Dy-na-mi-tee” lead the album into the popular consciousness. Her 2005 sophomore album Judgement Days was full of political critiques but lacked the infectiousness of A Little Deeper. In 2006 she collaborated with her brother Akala who is a rapper also, on the A Little Darker mixtape.
