Jimi Hendrix:Hear My Train A Comin’ (PBS Documentary)

PBS’s Hear My Train A Comin’ is a documentary on Jimi Hendrix that will air on November 5th. In the trailer the usual rock legend suspects speak on Hendrix’s musicianship. It is important to hear from those who were there when Hendrix conquered the rock world but without any commentary from current artists the film just looks like a dull cliched rock documentary. Hip-hop has been the new rock and roll for the past 30 years and the absence of any kind of hip-hop perspective turns Hendrix into an antique piece for people like his stepsister Janie Hendrix to floss. It’s unfortunate that the estate did not give filmmaker John Ridley the rights to use Hendrix’s music for his film All Is By My Side starring Andre 3000.
