Major Harris formerly of The Delfonics and who achieved solo success with the song “Love Won’t Let Me Wait” died today. Harris was a native of Richmond, VA and started his career in the ’60’s with various groups including Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers, The Charmers and Nat Turner’s Rebellion. He joined The Delfonics in the ’70’s as a replacement for member Randy Cain. A solo career was launched in 1974 and his signature song earned him a gold plaque in 1975. He recorded a total of 4 solo albums and still performed with the Delfonics at reunion shows.
