R.I.P. Ms. Melodie

Former BDP member and ex-wife of KRS-One Ms. Melodie passed last night of undisclosed causes. The Brooklyn native had the fortune to enter the commercial rap game during the Golden Era when female rappers were diverse. Her one solo album Diva came out in 1989 is remembered most for the songs, “Hype According To Ms. Melodie” and “Live On Stage.” She also had memorable appearances in the Stop The Violence “Self Destruction” project, Queen Latifah’s “Ladies First” video and the BDP H.E.A.L album. Ms. Melodie is also the older sister of Harmony who was a BDP member as well.
