tUnE-yArDs + Angelique Kidjo + Questlove + Akua Naru- Lady

tUne YarDs, Angelique Kidjo, Questlove and Akua Naru have teamed-up to remake Fela’s “Lady” for the inaugural RED (RUSH TO ZERO) campaign to rid the world of AIDs by 2015. The RED Music part of the organization has partnered with the longstanding Red + Hot group to release the single on June 1st and the full-length album (Red)+Hot+Fela next spring. “Lady” was originally Fela’s critique of African women embracing feminism at the time even though his mother was progressive. Kidjo and Naru have changed the lyrics to reflect the realities of African women today.
