During the earlier part of the summer Omar walked down a street in Copehagen and sang his new song “The Man.” Thankfully Kristian Mathiassen directed, shot and edited this piece of true live singing on the street. This year the singer has been nominated for a MOBO and you can participate in the voting here. Omar is working on his seventh album but no release date has been announced.

Siji’s Elder’s Corner

New Jersey based singer, songwriter, producer and filmmaker Siji is making a film about Nigeria’s history as told through the words and music of Nigerian musicians. “Elder’s Corner” tells the story of Nigeria including the country’s battle with colonialism, oil, ethnic battles and their overall political and power struggles. “Elder’s Corner” is in the Kickstarter phase and Siji’s goal is to raise 20,000 by October 31st.

Van Hunt-What Were You Hoping For (Album Stream)

In the latest artist addition for the 2011 A3C Hip-Hop Festival, The Red Bull Music Academy will present An Evening with Big Daddy Kane: Sowing the Seeds of Hip Hop on Saturday, October 8. Brooklyn native and hip-hop innovator, Big Daddy Kane headlines a night of music that pays tribute to the birthplace of hip-hop and the site of the 2012 Red Bull Music Academy – New York City, NY. The evening begins with an intimate conversation with Kane on his career, hip-hop and much more, hosted by Karl Injex. The show then moves into a musical journey through NYC’s five boroughs showcasing classic hip-hop joints spun by Da Beatminerz and performed by some of today’s most cutting edge names including Skyzoo, J-Live, Jean Grae and Boy Jones, son of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
