3 Female acts/singers/songwriters came together to “show and prove” their skills at last month’s Show and Prove “Something for the Ladies” Showcase. Only 1 winner walked away with the crown— she goes by the name of Kalae All Day!!!! Finalists of the show included: Zarinah, G.N.U., and Gypsy Flesh.
We, at Brooklyn Bodega, would like to congratulate all the contestants on their fabulous performances! A huge thank you to all of you who came out and supported this positive movement of females in Hip Hop. The turn out was PHENOMENAL! The energy was hype and Public Assembly was overflowing with an amazing vibe. The ladies of Hip Hop certainly turned up the heat and demonstrated they too can engage a crowd of all ages and gender.
“Our October ‘Show and Prove’ was our best attended yet. If there was any doubt that the ladies of Hip-Hop were not out there, that myth was dispelled at Public Assembly. While all the finalists did a spectacular job Kalae All Day’s charisma and stage show blew the crowd away. As a result of winning ‘Show and Prove’ she has a great opportunity to open up for a leader in our space, Talib Kweli. If you missed her show last month, I encourage you to head over to Southpaw and don’t make the same mistake twice. And all you MC’s and Hip-Hop soldiers – get ready cause we are gonna do it again on December 16th. The revolution continues.” –Wes Jackson, President of Brooklyn Bodega.
Kalae All Day will proudly wear her Hip Hop crown on November 28th at Southpaw, where she goes on to open up for the legendary Talib Kweli & The Idle Warship. Among others, featured artists for the night include: Niles, Jah C & The Antidote, Rebel Starr, Trezure The Empress, and special Guest Megabone. Doors open at 8pm and the show begins at 9pm. Admission is $15 in advance or $20 at the door day of show.
Brooklyn Bodega continues their mission in providing a unique platform for talented up and coming artists to show and prove their skill sets. Join us and support these brilliant individuals and their passion for Hip Hop.
